Business coaching: the benefits

In 2001 McGovern for Manchester Consulting Inc. in the US reported: 'coaching translates into doing, doing translates into impacting the business, this impact can be quantified and maximised'. He went on to say ‘For large organisations we can estimate an average return on investment of $100,000.’

US survey

A recent survey by MetrixGlobal LLC in the USA showed that for large businesses coaching produced a 529% return on investment. Alongside this there were significant more subtle benefits to the organisational culture.

These include improved:

  • productivity,
  • quality of output,
  • customer service
  • retention of best employees

10 years of coaching in Dental Practices in the UK (The Dental Business School) has had a major impact,
increasing profitability and reducing bankruptcy.

Salon experience

Coaching is not yet widely used in hairdressing.

Salons that commit to a 12 month programme have experienced from 20% to 100% increase in turnover and corresponding profitability.

Salons that coach find...

Increased employee commitment and satisfaction with improved staff retention. In this better environment employees believe the organisation is committed to them.

They can see the business developing its staff, helping them improve their skills.

...and in particular

  • Newly promoted stylists and managers cope better with their new responsibilities
  • AND - personal issues don’t affect performance at work
  • AND - the salon has a process for continued development
